WHO WE ARE
Hoops By The River Inc. is an East Harlem-based nonprofit organization dedicated to creating opportunities for young people through sports, education, mentorship and community engagement.
Since 2009, we have used basketball as more than a game — it has been a tool to bring families together, develop young leaders and help create better futures for generations to come.

Hoops By The River is deeply rooted in the Kelly family's connection to basketball, mentorship and the East Harlem community.
Will Kelly Sr. dedicated decades to coaching and mentoring young athletes throughout New York City, helping guide generations of players and young people through basketball.
His sons, Will Kelly Jr. and Erik Kelly, followed in his footsteps through coaching and youth development, while Christopher Kelly helped expand the organization's reach through media, creative development and community programming.
The Kelly family legacy extends beyond basketball. With family at the foundation, Hoops By The River represents generations of commitment to East Harlem, its young people and its future. Together, the Kelly family continues to carry forward a legacy built on community, mentorship, opportunity and service.

Through sports, tournaments, educational activities, mentorship, community events and youth employment opportunities, we continue to create spaces where young people can learn, compete, grow and build lasting relationships.
